The BAIR FAMILY MUSEUM announces Jo Firm and Lavonne Rice-Gordon Exhibition of Watercolors and Saturday Demonstration and Class:

Design, Color, Light: The Work of Lavonne Rice-Gordon and Jo Firm

On Saturday and Sunday July 25th and 26th the Bair Family Museum in Martinsdale will host an exhibition of paintings by Montana artists Lavonne Rice-Gordon and Jo Firm in the Visitors’ Center. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday July 25, Lavonne Rice-Gordon will teach a watercolor class from 2 to 4 p.m. Artist Jo Firm will provide watercolor technique demonstrations throughout the day Saturday. Each artist’s work will also be on display Sunday July 26th. Everyone is invited to meet the artists and to view their unique perspectives on images from everyday life and images that arise from a dialogue between the watercolor, the paper and the imagination.

Lavonne Rice-Gordon strives to “capture the design, color and light in everyday scenes and items.” Jo Firm grew up in Montana and graduated from the University of Montana. From there her life took a 12-year turn into the wilds of the Alaskan bush. She and her family moved to Anchorage in the 1970s, and in 1985 Firm returned to Montana. Her inventive watercolors capture this adventuresome spirit and her subject matter ranges from landscapes to poetically juxtaposed objects to experiments with the media of color in water.

There is no charge for this event. There is a modest fee if you choose to tour the Bair Family Home (the last tour departs at 4 p.m.) Come out to Martinsdale and enjoy strolling the beautiful grounds and learning about the Bair family history.
